On April 26, 2018, the Press & Sun newspaper, via its online site Pressconnects.com, published a Letter to the Editor titled “Don’t like living in New York? Move“, by Ren Fanning. It was a very partisan and myopic vision of New York State, summarizing the 2014 words of discrimination from Governor Andrew Cuomo with a local flavor added. That said, the divisive and autocratic tone of Gov. Cuomo’s message was alive and well in the published piece.

A response Letter to the Editor was submitted, and there has been no acknowledgement from the Press & Sun as of this time. But the public should not be denied a chance to hear a counter statement, addressing the concerns of the community without segregation or disdain for the individual views of residents that encompass the full spectrum of political views in our nation and world.

Therefore we are providing the verbatim Letter to the Editor, submitted May 2, 2018, by M V Consulting, Inc president Michael “Vass” Vasquez:

Ren,

It’s saddening to read your support of segregation of your fellow neighbors, promoted by Gov. Cuomo in Jan. 2014. But this is a consequence of the emotional partisan policies that have divided our nation, our State, and our community.

The fact is the policies of NY State have caused 1.2 million of our friends and family to leave the State already. That hasn’t helped those remaining. It’s caused decades old businesses to close, property taxes to increase, unemployment to grow beyond State and national levels, and pushed more of our loved ones to drug addictions in their despair.

Simply put, the Liberal policies championed by Gov. Cuomo, Senators Gillibrand and Schumer, Rep. Pelosi (who has inserted herself in our local politics), and Assemblymembers like Anthony Brindisi, have cost NYS 18 congressional seats (and at least 1 more in 2020) and billions in lost jobs and tax revenue. More division won’t make this better as proven by 65 years of decline.

Time to end the insanity and try a new path. Let’s shift from the race to the Far Left fringe and improve the quality of life for all.

Sincerely
Michael “Vass” Vasquez
