Editorial comment: The silence of multiple local news media to the following will tell you how correct M V Consulting president Michael Vass statement is. And he is not afraid to say this publicly on behalf of communities across the nation.
“It is so maddening that local media, embarrassed by coverage of my 1-man company and the hundreds that attended the Back the Blue rally (part of Police Week), put together a meager and feeble 60 words for coverage and had to have 3 photos lent to them. That took them over 24 hours to put together.
Local news media have literally hundreds of staff, millions if not tens of millions in revenues, with more than a week of prior notice – and just my 4 minute photo-only-video covers more of what happened.
Suffice to say, either local news media support defunding our police. Which leaves the public defenseless and vulnerable to the violence we saw in large cities around the country – like the riots in Rochester by PLOT in 2020 and still happening today. OR the news media FEAR the quasi-political BLM / PLOT / ANTIFA and the other handful of fringe Leftist radicals. Neither is a positive for our community and their industry.
The local news media reaction to the backlash of their purposive inaction, is inadequate, ineffective, and insulting. The pitiful display of after-the-fact social media summarization should make them hold their heads low and apologize to the public. Instead, they will just move on to the next story assuming the public will forget in a month or 2 – but I will not.
If you read this far – and by all means I am open to anyone in the industry speaking directly and/or publicly to me on this (feel free to copy this and send it to them) – I have a simple question for you to ponder. IF local media serve or fear a splinter group of radicals so much that they abandon our police, what else will (or do) they decline to inform YOU about that could alter your life and that of your friends and family?
Yeah, it’s a bigger deal when you consider the ramifications. But what do you think? “Michael “Vass” Vasquez – president M V Consulting, Inc.
