Piling on the Governor

Andrew Cuomo refuses to resign after proven corruption and 9 sexual misconduct allegations

Uncommon SenseThe Siwiec Report by Ron Siwiec

“You know, he told me once, completely exasperated, you’ve got one glass of water inside your head, with all the tears for a lifetime. If you waste them over nothing, then you won’t be able to cry for real when you need to.”

The goal is not to defend Governor Andrew Cuomo, but to offer a semblance of sanity and balance to counter the #MeToo movement’s silly parade – a parade of conveniently offended women who have suffered the seemingly unbearable indignity of having had their hands kissed or having been flirtatiously winked at by a ‘sex fiend.’ Andrew Cuomo may not be a knight in shining armor, but he is far from the Don Juan being painted by the likes of the rapacious attorney, Gloria Allred, who has been retained to savage Mr. Cuomo because he made her client feel uncomfortable. Oh, the humanity.

Gloria Allred is the mother of attorney Lisa Bloom, who surreptitiously offered her legal skills to Harvey Weinstein, the serial abuser/rapist Hollywood producer, whose sexploits make Cuomo’s venial indiscretions seem like pulling a schoolgirl’s pigtails. Teach your children well, Ms. Allred.

As detailed in Ronan Farrow’s book on Harvey Weinstein (Catch and Kill), Ms. Bloom operated as an undercover agent for Weinstein to alert him about Farrow’s investigation into Weinstein’s criminal sexual activities. It would behoove Allred to counsel her own kin about working for the devil before piling on the Governor with laughable accusations of swooning women intent on getting their 15 minutes of fame.

What accounts for this assault on the Governor? Since the women who have been accusing Cuomo appear to be on the political left (including the bottom-feeding Ms. Allred), it poses an interesting question… that is, why is the Left so determined to devour one of their own.

The answer lies in the fact that although Andrew Cuomo is considered Left, he is not nearly Left enough. New York State is home to progressives Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. Both are decidedly left of center, but their progressivism pales in comparison to the younger and better-known New Yorker, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose star continues to rise on a national level.

The battering Cuomo has been taking is coming from inside a NY State Democrat party that has seen a rising wave of progressive and socialist electoral wins. Cuomo’s meteoric plunge from fame, in the early throes of the Covid pandemic, to infamy with the recent #Me Too kerfuffle plays into the hands of progressive and socialist politicians within New York.

Recent down ballot wins by Jamaal Bowman (16th Congressional District), Alessandria Biaggi (NYS Senate, 4th) and Socialist State Senator Julia Salazar (NYS Senate, 18th) signal a major shift toward far-left representation in the Empire State. Cuomo once fit the bill as a Democrat leader, but a penchant among down state voters for nanny state policies puts him in a precarious position. Speaking of down state, consider his number one nemesis, his Lex Luthor, is none other than the left of left Mayor Bill DeBlasio. While conspicuously running New York City into the ground, the mayor finds enough time to blast Cuomo. What is that maxim about pots and kettles?

Members of his own Democrat party, gleefully employing a trifecta composed of botched nursing home directives, special Covid treatment for family and friends, and a parade of offended females as cudgels to pummel the governor, hope his demise will pave the way for far-left leadership.

Will the attack of predominantly New York City socialist politicians prevail in this titanic battle? Stay tuned as the empire strikes back.
