Tax and spend Liberals make more than you

After writing about the hypocrisy of Ben Affleck attacking CEO pay, we decided to take a look at other notables as well. These are people that have made it clear they feel things are wrong in America. From CEO pay to universal healthcare, to just about everything. Yet keep in mind that this very same list of people have NEVER voluntarily given their money to the Government. Many of these same people live in homes worth more than the average American (earning $49,777 in 2009 according to Census) will earn in their lifetime. Many of these people make more in an hour than the average American makes in a year.

Left-wing Liberal David Letterman makes 158,333 dollars 33 cents per day.
Ben Affleck, anti-CEO pay activist, makes 154,166 dollars 66 cents per day.

  • Rep. Alan Grayson – known for calling Republican women whores and other colorful remarks – net worth ~$54,966,522 in 2009
  • Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi – known for the Health Care Reform (that does not apply to members of Congress), opposition to the Bush Tax Cuts, and peals of wisdom like ‘unemployment [checks] is a stimulus’ – net worth ~$58,436,537
  • Sen. John Kerry – net worth ~$238,812,296
  • Secretary Hillary Clinton – not including the international funds received to the Clinton Foundation – net worth ~$31,243,506
  • Rep. Maurice Hinchey – voted for Health Care Reform, against Bush Tax Cuts, and is unaware of the national deficit (according to his own statements at a 2010 mid-term debate, video on this site) – net worth between $407,017 to $1,080,000 including $35,000/year in pension from NY State Assembly.

There are other examples, like Warren Buffett who prefers to give his money away to charity yet wants the Government to take more money from other Americans. There are many more members of Congress – who on average saw their net worths increase in 2009 (especially in the House).

Does it mean much? Maybe not. But it just kicks us in the gut to hear these multi-millionaires tell us what is and is not expensive, fair, or reasonable.

When you pay taxes on April 15th – someone remind Secretary Tim Geithner and Rep. Charles Rangel that they have to do it too – remember all the people that think you pay too little in taxes, and aren’t giving enough help to illegal immigrants, and need your money to fund their programs. That is if you have a job to pay taxes with.
