Why is America the greatest nation in the world? Well not including the peaceful change of government that happens every 4 years, the freedoms we enjoy, the protections of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and the lack of a class system, there is of course our relative wealth.
In fact America is one of the few nations of the world where anyone can become mega-wealthy. While being born into money never hurts, especially if you are as swift as say Paris Hilton, it’s not the only way. Take a look at a couple of people that made the Forbes 400 list:
Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Oprah Winfrey, Tiger Woods (not on the list I believe), Donald Bren, Sheldon Adelson, George Lucas, John Paulson, and it goes on and on.
They all worked for their money. They all earned what they have. In fact, the list above theoretically could buy the following nations (almost together):
Belize, Costa Rica, Bolivia, El Salvador, Uruguay, Tanzania, Burma, North Korea, Zambia, Haiti, Somalia, Guyana, and Barbados.
I like to remember these things when people like Michael Moore, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, George Soros, and many others on the left sing the demise of this nation and/or blame Americans for everything. They all seem to hate capitalism, yet not one of them could have made so much in virtually any other nation in the world.
The worst of the hypocrits is probably Michael Moore. His latest movie, which is not doing well, is a rant against capitalism. Yet Moore used the system to have the money to make his movie. He is using the system to make a profit from the movie. And he is NOT donating any of the money, giving it to the Government to use, or otherwise spreading it to poor people across the nation.
There is no real point to this, besides one thought. America can be many things to many people. Generally we are what we make of the numerous and available opportunities that we have. Anyone telling you different probably has an agenda – and likely you will not benefit from that agenda.
