In my 48 years of life, I cannot stress how the 2016 elections are the most important ever. The stakes that stand before the nation could not be higher. Generations of Americans will be effected by the decisions made on November 8th.
But our collective votes reach much farther in 2016 than just who will be president. This election will determine the balance of the Supreme Court, how our nation will interact with countries across the globe (via politics, the fight against radical Islamic terrorists, and the economics of trade), and how we understand and execute the Constitution and Amendments that are the foundation of our freedoms and Rights.
Never before have the votes of the citizens been more important and decisive. Never in my lifetime has the urban myth of an individual vote not counting been more of a lie.
Not only will the choice we make as a nation decide who is the next President, we will decide what direction that President (and those to follow) will take in guiding the nation for decades. Who votes, and how many vote, will clearly set the priorities of the nation. Have no doubt that the staff and advisors of the next President, the Speaker of the House, and the Senate Majority Leader will be counting every vote and demographic. The only voices that will be heard, and will matter, are those with a vote. That is the reality.
But going down ballot, each race that voters will be facing will equally have long-term impacts. Our choices for Congress (Senate and House) will create and/or fund the priorities of the President and our respective regions. It will be Congress that will create the guidelines and regulations that will affect every life in this nation – even those who fail to speak via their voice and effectively submit to servitude to the will of those that do vote.
As you travel down the ballot, getting ever closer to your own door and the policies that more immediately effect each of us individually, our collective voices are even more tangible and vital. Our choices of State representation will prioritize the allocation of our taxes (and in fact the amount of those taxes) to address our economic conditions, the needs of the poor and facing crisis (like heroin addicts), as well as the foundation we provide the youth to build upon. At the County and City levels, these priorities will become the reality of when or if our street lights will be on, our roads fixed, the number of jobs available and in what industries, and more.
In 2016, more than any other election in my lifetime, each and every vote matters at every level. Please vote, no matter who you ultimately chose to vote for. But that is only one part of my purpose today.
I will also take the time to briefly note that guiding our Government does not end after we enter our vote in the election booth. As has been seen with the corruption scandals in New Jersey, New York, and even in the Primary process, when the public stops paying attention power corrupts. That is as true as with the Buffalo Billions as it is with the IRS, StartUP NY as it is with the Veterans Administration scandal. Politics is not a spectator sport, and our collective involvement is required to ensure proper creation, application, and management of our laws and regulations.
Part of that active participation is knowledge. An informed public is a free public in my opinion. Which is directly what M V Consulting, Inc. was created to do. Through our blogs and commentary, unedited videos and interviews, we have sought to provide facts – and in commentary our interpretation of consequences of those facts – so the public may be informed. Even for those that may disagree with our commentary conclusions, having the facts to based the decision upon and opening the dialogue about the issues is important and vital to guiding our elected officials properly.
But providing commentary, holding unedited and non-time restricted interviews with elected officials (at all levels of Government and from ALL Parties), getting FOIA’s and all the work required to provide more than a political bullet point or 30 second soundbite takes time and money. It requires equipment, upgrades to technology and software, transportation, and most of all manpower.
M V Consulting, Inc. is not backed by ANY political party, elected official, or special interest group. We are not funded by or supported from the main stream media that we compete against – and more than occasionally outperform with our exclusive interviews and news coverage. We are a small media company that largely survives on donations from the public. Not subsidies and grants that ultimately are taxpayer dollars doled out at the discretion of political elites, but from individuals just like you.
The results of the 2016 elections will be widespread. At every level of Government, scrutiny and adherence to campaign promises will be required. Holding politicians, pundits and politicos feet to the fire will be more essential than ever before – no matter who wins whichever election race. We are committed to continue our efforts to do just that, hold their feet to the fire and remind elected officials that they are the servants of the public, and not the other way around. It costs money to do this.
So this is the long way to say that our second purpose is to ask for your help to raise funds. We don’t ask often, but we ask because you keep our lights on – literally. Our goal is to raise enough to replace our primary camera (which broke at the end of this summer) used for interviews and coverage of news events. We also seek to fund our online presence (our domains, websites, and podcasts). Lastly, we would like to return to advertising our presence on cable television. Not big goals, but goals we cannot reach alone.
In all we hope to raise no less than $1,500 and ideally $15,000 for these objectives. We hope to hit that target by end of First Quarter 2017. We don’t expect any one individual to provide this, but collectively you can easily help us reach these goals. You can donate via secure PayPal at:
I thank you for your time and attention to this letter. If you have any questions, feel free to reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I again encourage everyone reading this to share it and most of all to vote on November 8, 2016.
