Early results of primary elections

By Michael Vass | June 26, 2012

In Colorado, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Utah today was primary elections day. The contest to see who will be running for seats in Congress in November and other races. One of the more interesting of the races is the one for the Republican ticket to face off against NY junior Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

As of 9:58pm, according to Politico, with 10.9% reporting results so far:

Senate

Attorney Wendy Long leads with 55.8% of votes
Congressman Bob Turner is at 31.9%
Nassau Comptroller George Maragos trails with 9.2%

For the race in the House of Representatives, the big races are of course in the NY-13, where Rep. Rangel will try to retain his seat. Also the newly formed NY-22 showcases a race of the prior Tea Party supported Republican who took the seat in the 2010 mid-term elections, and another Tea Party candidate.
