The annual NY GOP dinner will be taking place on April 19th in New York City, at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers. It is a major event as it will take place 4 days before New York has it’s Primary. A primary which will help determine if Mitt Romney will become the Republican nominee to face President Obama in the 2012 Presidential election, or if Rick Santorum will resurge as a challenger.
Equally of importance is that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will be one of several keynote speakers at the event. Currently Gov. Jindal is among a few who are widely seen as a potential Vice Presidential running mate to the Republican nominee. His qualifications, beyond being Governor, include serving as a Representative from 2004 – 2008 (re-elected once), being a Rhodes Scholar who turned down Yale Law and Harvard Medical (he went to Oxford), and having offered the 2009 Republican response to President Obama’s speech to the joint session of Congress.
It is quite possible that more insight on the potential for Gov. Jindal to become the VP candidate will be provided in his speech.
Additionally there will also be speeches by current Republican nomination candidates Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. While both pale in the delegate count versus Mitt Romney, as of this writting, both are still in the competition. Considering the looming Primaries in NY and PA, the speeches should be illuminating, as the hints of what will happen after the Primary results are tallied will also likely be foretold.
We mention all this because we will be attending the event, and will provide coverage of the event upon our return from it. We will likely also provide a short summary of the event either live or shortly after the dinner.
We look forward to providing more soon.
