NY State Senator Tom Libous responds on gun and spending Bills

Rating 3.00 out of 5

While Michael Vass, president of M V Consulting, Inc., was out doing an interview with NY 126th district Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (which will be available shortly) we received a response from Sen. Libous staff. We had hoped to have Mr. Vass speak with him today, but the Senator was out of the office. But his staff provided us the following:

To our questions –
Would Sen. Libous support the re-submitted gun legislation of Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo when/if it is presented to the State Senate?
What legislation are priorities for Sen. Libous to introduce and/or support this year?

“I will support Assemblywoman Lupardo’s re-submitted gun legislation and we plan on introducing a Senate version of the bill in the coming weeks.

I look forward to working with Governor Cuomo on his goals of cutting spending and returning dignity to State government.

Two of my priorities have been cutting spending and creating an environment for growth. To do so, I pledged I would fight for a spending cap, to create tax credits for hiring the unemployed, and to freeze or repeal burdensome regulations.

On Wednesday, we made progress on three of those pledges.

State Spending Cap: The Senate passed S.1892 which would institute a spending cap limiting spending to 2% or 120% of inflation – whichever is less.

Tax credits for hiring the unemployed: S.1891 would give a $5,000 tax credit for each new employee hired and another $3,000 tax credit for hiring someone who was collecting unemployment.

Cutting Red Tape: S.1891 also puts a moratorium on new business regulations and creates a commission to recommend reducing regulations.”

We thank Senator Tom Libous for his response. We will follow S.1891 and keep our readers up to date with Sen. Libous and his campaign promises.
