More than just Democrats and Republicans

In my recent posts I have discussed the fact that Harold Ford Jr. is the only Democrat competing against Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. At this moment the Republican Party has yet to name their candidate, though there is no question one will be named soon (likely Bruce Blakeman). In my writing I assumed that these were all the parties involved in this race. That assumption was recently corrected by Jan D. Johnson.

Ms. Johnson is also competing for the junior NY Senate seat. She represents the Constitution Party. I will provide part of the email I received from her on her intentions.

“I just finished reading your most enlightening article regarding your emails to both Senators Gillibrand/Schumer… just like you I am also someone who has lived in NY for 31 years; 18 of those years has been in the 8th District which these two Senators “represent” the people. Just an FYI: I am running for the U.S. Senate against Gillibrand in the November Election. I will be running on the Constitution Party Platform. Please check out our website:

This is my first foray into the political arena. Sometimes when I think about it it seems to be overwhelming… especially because it is against someone like Gillibrand…I, personally believe, that Gillibrand is very naive regarding not just the Health Reform Bill but other issues that are very important to the American people. I, like you, at one time wrote many emails/faxes to both Schumer and Gillibrand. I have never received a personal response.

The Representatives have not, for many years, even considered what the American population even think about what they are doing. Washington is so separated from the rest of the U.S. The American population finally woke up last year, again, when there were Town Halls. Unfortunately, New York didn’t have any… Gillibrand has, for the year 2009, already accumulated close to $900,000 in her “warchest”. During the month of December she did many private fundraisers.

Please check out the website for the Constitution Party. Whether we agree on the “social” issues one thing is for sure… Americans need to get back to the basics of what our Founding Fathers gave to us in the First Place: our Freedom. The 2,500 page Health Care “Reform” Bill is a joke. There has been no accountability. This is one thing that I personally make no bones about….

God Bless,
Jan Johnsn
2010 U.S. Senate
The Constitution Party”

As I have said prior, I am not supporting any candidate for the New York Senate race – at least at this time. I am providing New York State voters information and facts about those that are running for this elected position, so that an informed decision can be made. Thus I am more than willing to include Ms. Johnson along with Mr. Ford, and Senator Gillibrand, and whomever the Republicans pick.

A few details about the Constitution Party, according to their website and eslsewhere:

  • It was created in 1992 under the name of U.S. Taxpayers Party. The name was changed in 1999.
  • The Constitution Party was on the ballot in 37 States in 2008. They were on 26 in 2004, and 41 in 2000.
  • The Party choice for the 2008 Presidential race were Chuck Baldwin vice-presidential candidate Darrell Castle. Both were endorsed by Congressman Ron Paul. They received 199,314 votes (or .15% of the vote) and finished 5th – behind Ralph Nader and the Libertarian Party candidate, but ahead of the Green Party candidate.
  • There are 438,222 registered Constitution Party voters as of October 2008. This make it the 3rd largest political party in the nation (though only 29 States compile the data this is based on).

The platform of the Party is, as directly stated on their website:

The Constitution Party is the only party which is completely:
    Pro-States’ Rights
    Pro-Second Amendment
    Pro-Constitutional, Limited Government
Against- illegal immigration and open borders
Against- U.S. policy being dictated by the United Nations
Against- undeclared unconstitutional wars (such as Iraq and Afghanistan)
Against- free trade and all international trade agreements such as NAFTA & GATT

The Preamble of the New York Constition Party website reads in part

“The goal of the Constitution Party is to restore American jurisprudence to its Biblical foundations and to limit the federal government to its Constitutional boundaries.”

As for Jan D. Johnson, I was able to find the following information:

  • As stated above, she is a resident of New York for 31 years. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
  • She is a member of WE ARE CHANGE – Greater NY 911 Truth Activist Groups Unite
  • She holds a firm Pro-Life and anti-stem cell position – You will stand in front of Him and account for why you used UNETHICAL “cosmetic” products/ingredients.

I was unable to find more information about Ms. Johnson.
