Once again I have sent letters (via just email this time) to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Senator Charles Schumer on the matter of the Health Care Reform Bill. As I have tried before to get answers to questions voters in New York State – and across the nation – I again have sought out answers. My request is specific to these Senators as they represent my home State, and both are seeking my vote for their respective re-election bids come November.
As previously, ANY and ALL responses from both Senators will be provided verbatim for my readers.
The goal of this letter, like those previous, are not to attempt to sway any voter. The intent is to provide answers to questions that I have discussed, read, and speculated over the past 7 months that Health Care Reform has been moving through the Congress. Answers that directly and clearly respond to the questions asked is all that I have requested. As my elected representatives, that are seeking the votes of constituents like myself, I believe that answers to this pressing and obviously politically important issue is the least that can be done.
The letter as sent to both Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Senator Charles Schumer is as follows (the name of the respective Senator was used singlely for each letter sent):
Today it has been verified that both of the New York State Senators have joined with the Obama Administration to move forward with a modified Health Care Reform. This modified Bill includes a public option, and several other provisions that have proven – like the Bill itself – to be widely disliked by voters for over 7 months now.
Senator, as a resident well past voting age, a small business owner, and as a professional political blogger, I ask you why you support reconciliation for the Health Care Reform?
I ask if Senator [Gillibrand/Schumer] you have read the complete Health Care Reform Bill (in the House and/or Senate versions)?
I ask if you have read the final written version of the President’s modification that will be offered for reconciliation?
I ask you, why as a citizen of America and of New York State I should reverse my opinion on the Health Care Reform Bill when it (under any version available to the public to date) cannot fulfill several of its purposive goals – especially the mandate to provide every American with health care (as stated by numerous news organizations for several months).
Senator, these questions are not difficult ones. They are questions I have asked several times before, never once receiving an answer for myself or any of my tens of thousands of readers across the State, nation, and globe. After 7 months I believe that as your constituent an answer is deserved.
Senator, if you cannot answer the above questions and continue on a path that the citizens of New York State and the nation reject, I have one last question for you. Why should I, or any of my thousands of readers in New York State, re-elect you in the mid-term election in November of this year?
President – M V Consulting, Inc.
New York State resident
I await a response.
