And the jobs created or “saved” is…

By Michael Vass | October 30, 2009

So now we have the final, absolute, definite numbers of jobs created or “saved” due to the Obama Stimulus. Sort of.

The White House has provided the latest set of numbers compiled from across the nation. So there are a few things we know. There were 640,000 jobs created since February 2009. That is not the 1 million promised to the nation, but its close.

Note I said created. Because only the most idiotic person would ever claim any job was “saved”. There is no way, by any economist or expert, to prove in any certain way that even 1 job has been saved. It’s just a political scam, or polispeak, to say a job was “saved”.

Of course this all flies in the face of the fact that 2.7 million jobs have been lost since February. That’s an average of roughly 447,000 jobs lost – without a single question or doubt – every month. But let’s not bother with the reality of the situation.

So some 80,000 jobs per month were created due to the Obama Stimulus. Except not even a week before this report came out, the Associated Press proved without question that the early numbers on the jobs created were false. Yes, through their fact checking, at least 18% of the jobs claimed to be created were in fact non-existent. But the White House assures us that these numbers from today are unquestionable. Because there is no way that the Government could possibly do their math wrong.

Moving forward though, here is what really gets me going.

Let’s say that the numbers are absolutely correct. Lets say that the jobs exist. It would mean that each job, generating $30,000 a year, cost in excess of $200,000 according to some estimates. That’s an increase of about $130,000 per job from the earlier, incorrect and higher, numbers just days ago. It means that the Government is WASTING some $170,000 of your money per job.

But not to worry. The White House insists that the real cost of each and every job created (or “saved”) will ultimately wind up being $92,000. That’s to create a $30,000 job. Or a waste of $62,000 per job. And that assumes that the numbers by the Government are exactly right. Which the cost of Cash for Clunkers and the unemployment rate have proven to be as likely as laying a golden egg.

Think about that a second. The Government is paying between 2 – 5.6x as much as a job will earn in a year. That’s 2 – 5 families the Government could have kept going by simply giving them that money. That’s like taking every second or third dollar in your pocket, and burning it then asking everyone around you to cheer you on for having done it.

So given that set of facts, President Obama, Vice President Biden, and the Democrat leadership expect high praise from the media and you. Will you give it to them?
